Gilbert Public Schools is asking voters for standing permission to sell the closed Pioneer Elementary School campus, an 11.86-acre parcel at the southeast corner of Baseline and Greenfield roads in Gilbert. Arizona school districts need voter approval to sell district land, so the board put the question on this November's ballot alongside its bond rather than pay for a separate election later. Approval would not force a sale and would not expire: district officials say it lets them act quickly if a buyer makes a strong offer. The board voted in January 2026 to close Pioneer because of falling enrollment, a closure the district says saves $1.9 million; the district sold its former Neely campus to the Town of Gilbert for $6.85 million in 2022 under the same kind of authorization. No sale price is set by this measure.
A YES vote means
The district holds permanent authority to sell the 11.86-acre former Pioneer Elementary property whenever it chooses, without going back to voters or paying for another election, though no sale is required and no price is fixed.
