Comal ISD Proposition A asks voters to authorize the district to issue up to $539,955,000 in general obligation bonds, repaid by an unlimited ad valorem property tax. The board called the election by an Order Calling a Bond Election passed and approved on August 4, 2026. The ballot language reads: "THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE. The issuance of bonds in an amount not to exceed $539,955,000 by the Comal Independent School District for the design, construction, rehabilitation, renovation, expansion, improvement, acquisition, and equipment of school facilities, the necessary sites for school facilities, and the purchase of school buses and vehicles, and the levying of a tax sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds and the cost of any credit agreements executed in connection with the bonds." The district describes the package as covering safety and security upgrades, repairs at existing campuses, new elementary schools near the Interstate 35 corridor, added instructional space at Canyon High School, a multipurpose addition at Davenport High School, land acquisition and replacement buses. Proposition A is the larger of two Comal ISD bond propositions on the same ballot, which together total $567,000,000.

A YES vote means
A "FOR" vote authorizes Comal ISD to issue and sell up to $539,955,000 of bonds for school facilities, school sites, and school buses and vehicles, and authorizes the board to levy an annual ad valorem tax without limit as to rate or amount to repay the bonds and any related credit agreements. The ballot states this is a property tax increase.
A NO vote means
An "AGAINST" vote denies the bond authorization, so Comal ISD may not issue these bonds or levy the associated repayment tax, and the facility, site, and school bus projects described in the bond package would not be funded from this authorization.
