A 2010 Elon University graduate in international studies, she ran for Burlington City Council in 2023 and applied in 2025 for the school-board vacancy that went to Eric Hall. She has served as North Carolina state president of the service organization Epsilon Sigma Alpha and is a mother of two.

He is a professor of exercise science at Elon University, where he also serves as assistant provost for scholarship and creative activity and director of undergraduate research. A 25-year Alamance County resident, he has two children at Elon Elementary School.
