Calcasieu Parish School District No. 30, covering the Sulphur area, could borrow up to $74 million through general-obligation bonds lasting up to 25 years at no more than 7% interest. A property tax inside the district would repay them, estimated at 8 mills in the first year ($8 per $1,000 of taxable assessed value). The money could buy and improve school land, buildings, facilities, equipment, and furnishings.
