Opposes: Civil Rights
Colorado would ban surgery on people under 18 when its purpose is altering biological sex characteristics in response to perceived sex or gender. Treatment for medically verified sex-development differences or acquired abnormalities would remain allowed. Male circumcision would also remain allowed. Public funds, Medicaid, and insurance could not pay for prohibited surgery. The law would cover violations starting January 1, 2027.
A YES vote means
The surgery ban, listed exceptions, and payment restrictions would take effect for violations starting in 2027.
A NO vote means
Colorado would keep current law governing these surgeries and how they may be paid for.
