Ballot Measure
A housekeeping rewrite of the Brownsville City Charter. Articles I through VII, with the exception of Article VI covering the Public Utilities Board, would be amended to revise or delete provisions that state law has already overridden and to replace outdated wording with current usage. The redlined changes are attached to the ordinance as an exhibit.
A YES vote means
Charter language that state law already supersedes is removed or rewritten and archaic wording is modernized across every article except the Utilities Board article, without changing the Utilities Board provisions.
A NO vote means
The charter keeps its existing wording, including provisions state law has already overridden and outdated language.
