Spoke at a League of Women Voters of Manatee County forum for the Democratic candidates in Florida Senate District 20. Said the proposed state constitutional amendment to cut property taxes would be a travesty for Florida and would strip away many public services. Said growth in the state should benefit residents rather than special interests. Also joined a discussion of state laws that limit what local governments may do, including a law restricting local land use rules during disaster recovery. Urged residents of any party to take part in state lawmaking. The Republican candidate for the seat did not attend.
