Alan Wilson is the Attorney General of South Carolina, in office since 2011, and the 2026 Republican nominee for Governor. An Army National Guard officer who deployed to Iraq, he is the stepson of U.S. Representative Joe Wilson. He won the June 2026 Republican gubernatorial runoff with about 69% of the vote and faces Democrat Jermaine Johnson in November.
