Luz Elena Chapa is the 2026 Democratic nominee for Bexar County District Attorney, winning a crowded primary and a narrow May runoff over prosecutor Jane Davis. She served over a decade as a justice on Texas' Fourth Court of Appeals (2013-2024), elected at the time as the youngest serving Hispanic justice in Texas, after a civil litigation practice concentrated in products liability. A St. Mary's University law graduate, she lost her 2024 appellate re-election bid before entering the DA race. She faces Republican Ashley Foster in November.
