Completed basic training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina and drilled with her unit in Brownwood, Texas. Was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1999, then worked as an intelligence officer in Arizona and held a top security clearance. Moved to Live Oak County in 2002 and worked there as a reserve deputy for the county sheriff's office and as a Child Protective Services investigator before becoming justice of the peace for Precinct 1.
